November 2022 Newsletter

Our 2022 and 75th annual Evergreen Chrysanthemum show is a wrap! Thanks again to all the show patrons and ECA volunteers. You all contributed to a successful and popular show!

Due to the late blooming season in the Pacific Northwest region this year, with sheltering, heat and care, we should be able to enjoy beautiful blooms until Thanksgiving.
I have found that cut blooms will last longer if the vase water is changed every 3 to 4 days and the stem is snipped off about a half inch with each water change.

The extended summer we had in September and October meant our fall lasted about 2 weeks before winter set in. I hope you are all hunkered down safe and warm. Over the course of the past week the temps at our house dropped to freezing. This is the type of chilling weather will kill our Chrysanthemum plant stools if they are not sheltered in a cool dry location.

Our November meeting cultural notes focus on taking care of our stock for next year’s cuttings.
