August 2023 Newsletter

Hi All,
I hope you are enjoying our beautiful Northwest summer. With the recent heat wave Steve and I are starting to see buds on our plants a week or so earlier than usual. Over the next few weeks we will be busy “taking the bud”. If you are unfamiliar with that phrase then carefully read the August cultural notes

NEXT MEETING
On Saturday, August 12th ECA is having a tour and picnic at the Chinese Garden in West Seattle. We will be meeting at the entrance to the Chinese Garden at 10 am. #3 on the map below is the entrance.

The Chinese Garden is located at the north end of South Seattle Community College campus at 6000 16th Ave SW Seattle, WA 98106. Parking in the North parking lot or along the street is free. Parking at the South Seattle Community College Parking lot is $5.

In addition to the Chinese Garden we can also tour the adjacent Arboretum. Spouses/ significant others are also invited to attend. It’s my understanding that both gardens are wheel chair accessible ( if needed). The picnic lunch will be provided by ECA. We plan to have a variety of offerings – Mexican and American cuisine, water, sodas, coffee and lemonaid.

So we can plan the food, please let me know if you are planning to attend and if you are brining your spouse or significant other.
Please text or call me at 360-303-8284 or email me at [email protected]

Hope to see you all on Saturday, August 12th at the Seattle Chinese Garden. Lunch will be served about Noon.
